Small groups

The church has two kinds of small groups.
Everyone is encouraged to participate in small groups but we don’t want to assume "one size fits all". People belong to either type of group or both. We do anticipate though that leaders are in a Discipleship Group as these are designed to help mature Christians keep growing.
Life Groups
These are small groups of about 8 people who meet most weeks in homes for fellowship, prayer and study. The aim is to help each other live fully for God and progress on their journey of discipleship.
Life Groups meet mainly on Wednesday or Thursday evening. A group for ladies meets on Thursday morning when child care is available.
Some Life Groups are termed Foundation Groups - specifically aimed at new Christians or people keen to discover what Christianity is all about. Foundation Groups are ideal for someone who has completed an Alpha course and wants to know more.
Discipleship Groups
These are smaller groups which meet every few weeks to encourage and pray for each other. The aim is to foster a measure of accountability to each other, grounded in genuine friendships and relationships.
Does the Bible speak of Christian accountability? First of all, the Bible says that God holds us accountable. Romans 14:12 says, "So then each of us shall give account of himself to God." This is personal accountability.
Christians are also accountable to one another. In 1 Corinthians chapter 12, we read that Christians are all part of the same body - the body of Christ - and each member needs or belongs to the other. This Scripture suggests the importance of strong accountability between believers. It is important for every Christian to have at least one other person in whom to confide, pray with, listen to, and encourage.
Galatians 6:1-2 says, "Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted. Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."
